All that is and must yet be

I only know what has yet been and hope to see my life I want.

I hope for others too as well to see the things they want to be.

Then the powers that be assert and make us all feel small and at a threat.

But God is bigger than us all and time surpasses every soul.

Who’s to say what plays out or who will win or when it ends?

Those who think they play us all as a fiddle will find that they have even less the power than they think we all.

The more they strive to control the mess, the more they bury themselves with it.

Chaos vs. chaos. Only God can rein it in. Don’t worry about the tyrants.

They know not what they do.

Tomorrow will be better

I saw a meme on Facebook with this writing prompt: Say tomorrow will be better without saying “Tomorrow will be better.”

I think I’ll try to do so poetically. Haven’t done a haiku in ages, so that first then a free verse.

I didn’t have a lot of time the other night, and as I look at this haiku now, I feel like it doesn’t flow well so I’m adding a minor edit.

Edited version:

Twilight’s glow fading,

Heart dissolving daily dross

My soul looks forward.

Original version:

Orange sky slowly dims.

The heart dissolves the mind’s stress.

The soul looks forward.

Hit the ground running before I was ready but I was able.

The Spirit went ahead of me and paved the way

So when the two of us met it was a peaceful teaming up

Made of resilience and hope, leading to joy.

It came late in the day, but there’s plenty more where that came from, God willing.

The moon and stars bring comfort’s sleep

And, restored, I will go onward.

Where did half the summer go already?

4th of July, birthday, Summerween, heat waves and rain storms. Home improvements and yard work. Pruning, planting, weeding, watering, snipping, clipping, staking, taking pics.

Daily grind, warm nights, up late. Groggy days, hot car. Shopping, free concerts, hanging on the deck. TV, chatting and sharing and browsing.
